Just wanted to share with you one of priceless pieces I own of my games collection.
War of Genesis 3 -1 and 3-2.
Extremely rare game by Softmax from Korea released in 2000- ish.
Been hunting for it for years. It was one of my holy grails until finally I found it on an obscure Japanese auction site. It cost me 35 pounds ...in new condition !
I have never been able to find double pack of this game anywhere else.
Our Asian friends have enjoyed limited and special edition of many games since the 80s....packed with graphic albums ..soundtracks ..stickers, cards, video tapes etc.
Unfortunately they enjoyed them long before publishers In the West realised that there is market for them.
Softmax games are incredible and I have all the PC rpgs they made bar one.
War of Genesis 3 is a great game spanning over 1000 years with fantastic characters and battle system resambling Suikoden mixed with strategy jrpg a bit.
The artwork is done by famous and phenomenal graphic artist Hyung Tae Kim.
The characters are expertly drawn full of detail as his style is peerless.
The whole box is heavy and massive! !
Around 35cm x 25cm x 20cm and very well designed.
Inside you have 2 amazing thick plastic boxes for each game as well as a hardcover graphic album. The boxes open like old Betamax video sleeves.
Inside are discs and manual .
Graphic album is beautifully designed with detailed illustrations of characters as well as expanding on their history.
The special edition complements this astonishing game beautifully.
It took me years to hunt it down and Im so happy that I finally own it.
The game was never translated in too English and it's a real shame as its an amazing RPG.
In Korea Softmax has released War of Genesis games on Android platform recently. It would be great if one of the publishers translated the games into english as they are real gems and worth it.
Can't believe that guys from 80s 8bit game makers OCEAN are still alive and kicking.
Shows videogames are for kids and adults alike no matter whether you are a dev or gamer.
